On Saturday November 5th, Andrei Arlovski took on Travis Fulton at ProElite 2 in Moline, Illinois. The fight was the co-main event of the card, that featured an opening round of a heavyweight tournament, as well as a main event with another former UFC champion Tim Sylvia. The night’s fights were broadcast on HDNet.

Arlovski’s fight with Fulton was not a very exciting fight until the last second of the fight. Arlovski landed a beautiful headkick that knocked Fulton out cold as time was about to expire.

After the fight, Arlovski spoke to Matthew C. Scaro about the fight. Arlovski was very candid in his responses and acknowledged that his career has taken a bit of an offswing.

“I wouldn’t say I am back, just a second start. You know like a baby does little steps. Of course thank you God, thank you team and all my friends that came to support me. It was just what Greg Jackson and all my trainers wanted me to do. It was a little bit late, but that’s ok.”

Many have thought that the next logical fight for Arlovski would be to fight Tim Sylvia as both not only were victorious at ProElite, but also have a history during their time in the UFC.

“It’s up to ProElite (who I fight next). Everybody knows what’s gone on between me and Tim Sylva. I honestly don’t even think about that stuff. But this guy from Germany said he wanted to fight me because I didn’t say hi at the airport. I feel bad for that guy because that means he is miserable.

I really appreciate ProElite for this opportunity to rebuild my career. Like I said, it’s a second step. I feel like everything is going right right now. Right team, right coaches, right place to train. It’s up to ProElite who I fight next.”

Tim Sylvia

Adrenaline MMA 4 took place at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Friday September 18. In the main event, former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia took on Jason Riley (6-2) and in the co-main event Houston Alexander (9-4) fought Sherman Pendergarst (11-14).

Houston Alexander completely annihilated Sherman Pendergarst in a one sided affair. In the early going Alexander landed leg kick after leg kick until, he buckled Pendergarst.  Alexander continued the assault with several knees and quickly finished Pendergarst with strikes on the ground at 1:51 of the first round.

Tim Sylvia looked to get back to his winning ways against the young up and comer Jason Riley.  Sylvia out-striked Riley from the start landing solid jabs and knees.  Riley showed his resilience in the beginning, but was floored with a huge left hook that sent him crashing to the canvas.  Sylvia followed Riley to the ground, and unloaded several punches, ending the fight at 2:52 of the first round via technical knock out.

Two new fights have been added to the September 18 Adrenaline MMA 4 card.  UFC veterans Houston Alexander (8-4) will meet Sherman Pendergarst (11-14) and Chad Reiner (20-8) will take on Forrest Petz (15-7).  Adrenaline MMA 4 is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Tim Sylvia (24-6) and Jason Riley (6-1).

Houston Alexander was granted permission to take a fight outside of the UFC.  Alexander has lost his last three fights and looks to rebound before his next (unscheduled) UFC fight.  Houston’s last win was at “UFC 75: Champion vs. Champion” in September of 2007.

Sherman Pendergarst fought at “UFC 65: Bad Intentions” where he lost to Antoni Hardonk.  Pendergarst has lost seven of his last eight fights.

Chad Reiner had two fights in the UFC in 2007 losing back-to-back fights against Josh Burkman and Anthony Johnson.  Since then he has gone 7-5 and has lost his last two fights.

Forrest Petz was able to go 2-3 in the UFC spanning from August of 2006 through October of 2007.  While he holds wins over Luigi Fioravanti and Sam Morgan, his losses came at the hands of Kuniyoshii Hironaka, Marcus Davis and Josh Burkman.  Petz last fought in June where he snapped a two-fight losing streak.

Adrenaline MMA 4 takes place Friday September 18 at the Mid-America Center in Coucil Bluffs, Iowa.
