There’s nothing wrong with a fun fight. And that’s what we got out of UFC 153. The card featured several changes from the onset, giving us Anderson Silva vs Stephan Bonnar as a main event.

Jon Fitch said he was not only fighting for the victory, but also for fight of the night honors. That’s exactly what he got in his battle with Erick Silva. Fitch put Silva on his back like he has to so many other opponents, but Silva was able to escape and nearly finish Fitch with submissions. It was an amazing back and forth fight and well deserving of the fight of the night award.

In pre-fight interviews Dave Herman said that jiu-jitsu didn’t work as he had never been submitted before. Antonio Nogueira proved him wrong and submitted him with an armbar late in the second round. It wasn’t the first submission he went after, but it was the one that Herman couldn’t get out of and was forced to tap to.

Rony Jason looked amazingly better against Sam Sicilia than he did at UFC 147 which served as The Ultimate Fighter Brazil finale. Both fighters were able to hurt the other with massive right hands but in the end it was Jason who was able to earn the technical knockout with punches and elbows.

The Ultimate Fighter Live Finale took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and featured a solid night of mixed martial arts. In the main event it was Jake Ellenberger who came out swinging for the fences, and dropped Martin Kampmann early in the round. However, it was Kampmann who came out swinging in the second round, and when Kampmann started throwing knees Ellenberger crumpled to the floor and was finished with strikes. Kampmann is now set to face Johnny Hendricks for what will most likely be a number 1 contender fight.

In the co-main event it was Mike Chiesa who was able to scramble to the back of Al Laquinta early in the first round, and sink in the rear naked choke to become The Ultimate Fighter Live season winner. Not only does he win the six figure UFC contract, but he also wins a Tapout endorsement deal and a Harley Davidson.  Chiesa overcame the death of his father, early in the season while he was in the house, and was able to win the show. Urijah Faber’s team won the entire season so Harley Davidson gave him a Harley as well.

The Ultimate Fighter Live season comes to an end on Friday, and today the fighters hit the scales. The event features 6 fights between cast members including the tournament final between Mike Chiesa and Al Iaquinta who are competing for the grand prize of a UFC contract. All fighters made weight and all fights will place as scheduled. The event will be headlined by a welterweight fight between Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampann, and the event will be broadcast on the FX channel. Dana White also announced that Kenny Florian was retiring after the weigh ins.
