United Combat League returned to 115 Bourbon Street for Brawl at Bourbon Street. The night of amateur mixed martial arts action featured eight fights headlined by Xavier Guzman taking on Dan Bravo.
The main event featured Xavier Guzman taking on Dan Bravo. The two looked hesitant at first as they respected each other’s punching power. It was Guzman who landed first, but Bravo landed what mattered. Several big punches and Guzman was pinned against the cage. Bravo continued his assault bloodying up Guzman. The punches didn’t stop coming and the ref had seen enough and stopped the fight.
The first fight to go past the first round featured Tyran Sutton taking on Moe Malli. The first round Malli took Sutton to the ground and quickly passed to mount. From there he threw punch after punch, but Sutton was able to defend and move enough to not be in danger. Sutton stood up and Malli went for another takedown, but Sutton was blatently holding the fence and was deducted a point. As the round ended Malli grabbed an armbar, but time ran out. The second round Malli again went for a takedown and again Sutton grabbed the fence. He was deducted another point and then the action stalled on the feet. Neither fighter did much and the ref told them to engage. The third round Malli quickly took Sutton down and unloaded ground and pound until the ref stopped the fight.
Billy Jessie took on David Hammons in a heavyweight bout. Hammons immediately took Jessie down and worked short punches to the body of Jessie. Jessie used the punches to slip Hammons’s arm passed his leg and set up a triangle choke. He adjusted the choke and Hammons tapped before going to sleep.
Middleweights Josh Weddington and Glen Evans were up next. Weddington landed a good inside leg kick and Evans swarmed Weddington. Weddington then grabbed a standing guillotine and Evans tried to pull guard while being choked. Weddington didn’t go to the ground and cranked the choke even more and Evans tapped to the submission.
Jason Croses wanted to finish his fight quick against Mike Dombrowski. Croses had the height and reach advantage and Dombrowski tried to close the distance with a double leg takedown attempt. Unfortunately he was too low and Croses was able to defend by grabbing Dombrowski’s ankles. Croses then punished Dombrowski’s body with repeated punches until he was free of the takedown attempt. He spun to the back of his opponent and the punches came down even faster and harder, forcing the ref to stop the fight.
G2’s Ben Carlson took on Adam Langwinski and Carlson made quick work of Langwinski. The two were pawing at each other trying to find their distance. Langwinski landed a leg kick and then the two clinched. Carlson jumped up and pulled guard while grabbing a guillotine choke. He adjusted a bit and Langwinski tried to pop his head free, but it just forced the choke in deeper and Langwinski tapped.
Bob Gacki took on Neko Jefferson and showcased some great wrestling skills. The two started off exchanging jabs and Gacki went for a head kick. He missed and slipped, but popped right back up. Jefferson then went for a takedown and Gacki defended it. He got his leg free from the takedown attempt and spun to get Jefferson’s back. He put both hooks in and worked for the rear naked choke. He couldn’t get it and then tried to flatten Jefferson out and in the process sunk in the fight ending rear naked choke.
Kicking off the night of action was Trevor Raylae taking on G2’s Vladimir Cerbadji. The two fighters came out and were swinging with bad intentions, both landing good punches. Cerbadji scored a takedown and then worked massive ground and pound from within Raylae’s guard. Raylae tried to get his hips and legs up for an armbar, but it wasn’t there. He stood and the two traded punches again. This time it was Raylae who went for a takedown, but Cerbadji sprawled and snuck an arm under his chin. He locked his hand on his bicep and rolled onto his shoulder, forcing the tap.
