At the post fight press conference, UFC officials announced that B.J. Penn, Forrest Griffin, and Anderson Silva all earned bonuses for their fights. Penn and Griffin both earned $60,000 while Silva was a dual winner earning a whopping $120,000 in bonuses.
The bonuses were substantially down from May’s “UFC 100”, $100,000 bonuses, but were comparable to those issued at “UFC 98: Evans vs Machida”.
Anderson Silva’s performance was arguably one of the best of his career where he picked Forrest apart using his excellent striking ability knocking down Griffin two times before finishing the fight. Griffin wasn’t left without anything as he and Silva also earned the “Fight of the Night” award.
B.J. Penn’s fourth round submission over Kenny Florian was the first “Submission of the Night” bonus for Penn.
