This battle of two the biggest, undefeated prospects in the heavyweight division could easily steal the show on Saturday night as Shane Del Rosario (11-0) faces off against Croatian Stipe Miocic (8-0).
Both guys are finishers, every single one of Del Rosario’s wins has come by way of knockout or submission (8 KO’S 3 SUBS), 10 of which were in the 1st round with the other only lasting little of a minute of the second. Meanwhile, Miocic has only gone to a decision once and has won 6 of his opening 8 fights by KO.
Del Rosario was originally slated to face former title contender Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 146 but, following the much publicized problems the card has faced, Gonzaga was promoted to face off with Roy Nelson before being forced off the card altogether with an injury.
Miocic stepped in to fill the void on the all heavyweight main card and the rest, they say, is history.
Miocic has fought twice in the UFC with wins over Joey Beltran and Phil De Fries and will look to make it 3 in a row against Del Rosario.
Del Rosario was brought in to the UFC as Strikeforce folded their heavyweight division this year and this fight will mark his debut for the promotion. He is coming off of a big win over now surging contender and fellow UFC 146er Lavar Johnson. Del Rosario is coming in after a long layoff due to an injury and hopes to not have have much ring rust.
As the old boxing saying goes; “Somebody’s 0 has got to go!”
