“Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg” lost another one of it’s widely recognized fighters after Nick Diaz failed to appear for a pre-fight drug screening on Monday. The California State Athletic Commission was forced to act and is unable to license Diaz for the fight in time. Stepping in his place is former “The Ultimate Fighter Seven” contestant Jesse Taylor.
The Nick Diaz vs. Jay Hieron fight was originally scheduled to be for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title, however due to the change, the fight is now a non-title contest.
Jesse Taylor made a name for himself on season seven of “The Ultimate Fighter” after he was the only contestant to ever be disqualified from the season’s finals. Taylor was given a second chance a month later when he lost to CB Dollaway at “UFC Fight Night 14”. Since the loss to Dollaway, Taylor has won seven straight fights.
