Supreme Promotions returns to Joliet tonight with a great card in store for local mma fans. The event is also being used as a fundraiser for Jeff Dunbar, a local amateur fighter who was paralyzed last December during his fight. The card’s main event will be for the middleweight championship as champion Matt Paul defends his title against undefeated ukrainian Andrew Potapenko.

Potapenko earned his shot at the title when he put on a great performance defeating Billy Ward at the promotion’s last event in July. He won the fight with a triangle choke at :57 seconds of the third round.

Paul is also coming into the fight with a good record and like his opponent Potapenko, has good ground and stand up skills. This fight is shaping up to be the fight of the night and could even be one of the best amateur fights of the year. Paul’s last fight with the promotion was in March when he defeated Billy Ward at 2:57 in the first round by rear naked choke.

The card will also feature fan favorites John Passarella and Chris Murphy. Several other tough fighters from some of the best gyms in the area will also be competing.

Raffles will be going on all night long with the funds going to support the Jeff Dunbar Fund. Supreme Promotions will take place tonight at the IBEW union hall at 1100 N.E Frontage Road in Joliet, Illinois. Doors open at 7 and fights begin at 8.

UFC on FX 5 weigh-ins took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN.  All the main card fighters made weight, however Dennis Hallman never made it to the scale and was released from the organization.  Earlier in the day he notified Dana White of the issues, was given fluids and knew he would miss weight.  His bout with Thiago Tavares was pulled from the card, and both fighters were given their show and win money.  Hallman was then released from the organization and sent home immediately to deal with his issues.

Also of note, Bart Palaszewski missed weight on his first attempt, but cut the additional weight within the allotted one hour time extension.

XFO Returns To Sears Centre On November 17 With XFO 46

XFO has had to move their December show to November due to a scheduling conflict, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to deliver some fantastic local fights. Four fights have been announced for the event with more to come.

XFO 46 takes place on Saturday, November 17th at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Tickets start at just $25 (plus fees) and can be purchased at http://www.localmmatickets.com/get-tickets/2314.html

Fights announced already include Miodrag Petkovic versus Adam Maciejewski, Andre Feliciano versus Phil Williams, Joey Diehl vs Jerald Williams, and Charlie Radke taking on Mike Sanchez.

Diehl is coming off a loss to Josh Killion at XFO 43. The Team Curran flyweight fighter had compiled a two-fight win streak at the weight class before being submitted by the Ohio based fighter. Williams comes into the fight after defeating Diehl’s teammate Phil Williams at XFO 44. It was a hard fought three round battle, but Jerald Williams walked away with the split decision.

Feliciano hasn’t fought since April where he earned a unanimous decision over Jerald Williams in his pro debut. He was originally scheduled to fight Phil Williams at the event, but an injury forced the opponent change. Williams brings a 2-1 record into the fight that will be contested at a catchweight of 140lbs.

Radtke is making his professional debut after having a successful amateur career. His opponent trains under UFC heavyweight Ben Rothwell and recently lost to Mike Cannon at Rumble at the resort.

Heavyweights Maciejewski and Petkovic will no doubt look to throw some serious leather at each other. Maciejewski, a Midwest Training Center fighter, returns after a three year layoff. Petkovic has been in a number of wars with over fifty professional fights.
